Rehabilitative Optometry and Low Vision Care trains the resident to work with patients whose vision cannot be corrected by conventional means. The programme covers functional vision assessment, optical and electronic magnification, non-optical aids, orientation and mobility, and the psychosocial and vocational dimensions of visual impairment.
To establish a national cadre of low-vision specialists so that visual impairment need not mean loss of livelihood or independence.
